August is here!

Whether you live in Marbella, own a holiday home or are simply visiting briefly, certain places and activities just can’t be missed over the summer period.

An evening people watching on the Marbella promenade
Perhaps the archetypal Marbella experience, this famous beach-side walkway is an experience not to be missed. A cosmopolitan, bustling town, Marbella displays its best side in the evening. From top restaurants to happening bars, there are multiple opportunities to sit and indulge in that most Marbella of activities – people watching.

Have lunch in Orange Square, Marbella Old Town
Visiting this fragrant square has to be on everyone’s to-do list. Take a lazy lunch in what must be one of the most beautiful squares in Spain, sitting in the shade of the scented orange trees that give it its name. Join an organised Segway tour trundling through the ancient cobbled streets or simply find a bar to enjoy a cool glass of fruity sangria in the sunshine, what could be more perfect?

Head for the hills
There is an abundance of natural beauty around Marbella, which is often overlooked in favour of the beach in the summer. Yet just minutes inland leads to some spectacular trails and walks that visitors are amazed to find so close to the busy beach resort. The ultimate challenge is to climb La Concha, the mountain that serves as a stunning backdrop to the town. A somewhat easier excursion is to the hilltop village of Istán and from there, a hike to La Charca de Canalón. The demanding trail is well rewarded with a wonderfully refreshing dip in the crystal cool waters of the Río Verde. With its rockpools and waterfalls, hot hikers could be forgiven for thinking they’d stumbled on paradise!

See how the other half live in Puerto Banús
One of the most popular stops in Marbella, this exclusive yachting marina has been attracting visitors and locals alike since its inauguration in 1971. With luxury yachts, designer boutiques and gourmet restaurants, it’s a celebrity-spotters paradise!

Adventure in the shade of pine trees
When in Marbella with kids, the Aventura Amazonia, located at a stone’s throw away from our office, is a must visit. And if you don’t feel like climbing yourself, you will surely enjoy the lovely shade that the huge pine trees of Elviria offer, while watching the kids wearing themselves out! Watch a video of our team trying the park back in 2012 when it first opened, here.

Spend the afternoon on the San Pedro Alcántara boulevard
This expansive open space in the centre of family-friendly San Pedro provides endless possibilities for fun for the smallest visitors. A number of play parks along its length cater to all ages, from the toddler-sized swings and slides to zip wires for bigger children.
