One of the chief attractions of Marbella as a family destination is the 27 kilometres of glorious beaches the area is blessed with—and the good news is the coming of Easter heralds the approach of the warmer weather and the opportunity to make the most of the golden sands.
Owners of the many beach bars and clubs that are dotted along the coastline are busy dusting off sun beds and getting their premises ship-shape for the coming season and its annual influx of beach-goers, with Easter traditionally being the first ‘big’ week of the tourist season.
The beach bars, known as ‘chiringuitos’, are for many families central to the success of their seaside holiday, offering as they do comfortable sun beds, snacks, drinks and activities that range from paddleboards to windsurfers and pedalos for waterborne fun.
Of course, with the mild year-round climate of Marbella it is perfectly possible to enjoy sunny days on the beach through the winter months too, and indeed several of the emblematic beach clubs in the area remain open all year round. Many of them do so to offer loyal local customers fine-dining facilities in superb settings, although they are adapted to winter evenings by moving indoors or providing heaters and blankets. Some also keep a busy programme of events throughout the winter, such as the family orientated South Beach in Las Chapas.
Family entertainment at South Beach
This fun and lively beach bar offers tasty snacks, fresh smoothies and wonderful cocktails in a secluded spot on one of the best beaches in Marbella and, best of all, remains open all year. It is the perfect spot to relax with the kids too—a shallow stone-free shoreline ensures safe bathing while free children’s entertainment is laid on every Saturday through the winter and on Wednesdays in the summer.
Other favourites of our team are La Perla Blanca, ideal for a taste of real Spanish seafood and Siroko Beach, with a contemporary mediterranean menu
For a fine dining experience, the Beach House in nearby Elviria offers creative cuisine and quality wines right on the shore, as does the elegant Trocadero Arena at Río Real. Those wishing to enjoy the famed champagne beach parties and DJ club nights of Nikki Beach at the Don Carlos resort will have to wait a little longer though, as it won’t reopen after its winter break until April 28th—instead head over to the bright lights of Puerto Banùs to party into the early hours at some of the marina’s famed clubs.
In recognition that Easter is the start of Marbella’s beach season, town hall workers have been hard at work cleaning and replenishing the beaches to ensure they are in pristine condition for the tourist influx—so make sure you pay them a visit and enjoy the Marbella beach experience to the max.
