Improving access to La Mairena

DEVLaMairenaThe charming La Mairena development cascades across the hills just north of Elviria to the east of Marbella. Anyone who is familiar with it will be aware that for some time the winding road that leads up to it was not in the best state. The difference between the condition of this road compared with the N340, or even the roads around urbanisations closer to the coast is quite noticeable. Now however, this five kilometre stretch of road is to get a comprehensive facelift.

The Marbella townhall has announced it is investing half a million euros to improve the road surface and create a pleasant drive through the area’s lovely countryside. Alongside the residents who use this stretch of road daily to link up with the coast, two school buses make a twice-daily trip to the Colegio Ecos and Colegio Alemán.

Work has already begun to clear dense vegetation and during May, prior to work beginning on the road, the pavement will be enlarged. The resurfacing and the addition of new safety features will be arranged in such a way as to minimise the disturbance to residents and other traffic using the route.

MairenaViewLa Mairena is one of the most enviable places on the coast to live, or to rent a holiday apartment. From its elevated position, the views across the coast are spectacular, while the cork trees dotted along the undulating countryside create an impression of secluded and exclusive countryside living – meanwhile residents are in fact less than a ten-minute drive from the coast, and close to a wide range of amenities. Indeed, La Mairena residents can quickly cross over the N340 to find themselves at some of east Marbella’s top beach restaurants, such as The Beach House, and Spanish favourites, La Perla Blanca and El Laurel.

The road improvements mean that La Mairena will be even more easily accessible. Please visit the Residencia Estates office and let us show you some of the properties we have available in what many consider a jewel in Elviria’s crown.
