Summer 2012

After a warm and busy summer here on the Costa del Sol, we have been delighted to see an increase in tourism of 3,3% compared to 2011, with a general increase in spending of 6.4% more than last year. The market has shown several positive signs of improvement, with a large number of Scandinavians, in particular Norwegians, purchasing property in some of our best selling developments Elviria Hills, Hacienda Elvira & Cerrado del Elviria Beach.

In August, our office in Elviria was pleased to accommodate a student from a Dutch University who conducted a customer’s satisfaction survey and we were very pleased that our average score was a respectable 7.8 out of 10. We received some invaluable feedback and positive criticism from our clients, which we have gladly taken on board as we are continuously looking to improve our standards of service.

Sadly, August ended with a large fire that started in the Coin area at around 7 o’clock in the evening, but due to strong winds soon spread towards Alhaurin, Ojen, Mijas and Marbella. Many residents in the affected areas were evacuated from their homes in the early hours, including Residencia Estates director, Marijke de Nier who lives in Elviria. Fortunately, there was little damage to property, but much of the surrounding hillside side has been burnt. Hopefully the coming seasons will bring some much needed rainfall and a quick return to the green hills we all love.

To finish our summer months, the whole team spent a great day out at Aventura Amazonia, you can watch the video here. Of course we ended our day with a fabulous meal at our favourite chiringuito; La Perla Blanca, right next to another great selling development; Romana Playa.

We are ready for the autumn months and look forward to seeing you again very soon!
